Last week we got a few inches of snow with 2 inches of solid ice on top of it. Our backyard was like a giant ice rink. Schools were closed for two days because nothing melted and it was impossible to shovel sidewalks. The kids played with pieces of ice instead of snowballs. There aren't any good sledding hills near our house but on solid ice you don't need much of a slope so the boys played all over the corn fields next to our house. Poor Sydney could barely walk so we took turns pulling her around.
